Wimborne Dog Behaviour Services & Pet Sitting
NOW OFFERING PHONE AND VIDEO APPOINTMENTS
Alison Cole MBPsS, IMDTB Hi - I'm Alison - I live in Wimborne with my husband and sons. Over the years we've had a menagerie of pets and I have a special place in my heart for dogs, cats and rabbits. |
Does your dog bark at other dogs? People? Cyclists? Joggers? Cars?
Do they struggle when left home alone? Do you struggle to recall your dog off-lead? Do you get dragged along on every walk? Do your dog's energy levels leave you feeling exhausted? Do you have multiple dogs who have difficulties getting on? I can help with all this and more! Since starting a successful dog-walking and pet-sitting business in 2013, I quickly realised that just taking care of pets is not enough. They all have strong characters, emotions and differing likes and dislikes, and these all massively motivate their behaviour. I realised there was a need for a much greater understanding of all animals (but particularly dogs as we take them out in the the big wide world with us) shortly after we took on our own rescue dog. Our rescue dog had a difficult background and came to us showing reactivity to other dogs, severe separation anxiety and a very strong urge to chase every bird that he saw! At the time, I couldn't find anyone to help me with him - and so I trained to become a dog behaviourist myself. Now, years later, I want to use these skills to help you with any issues you're experiencing with your best friends. My life is much more peaceful and I want yours to be too. |
I offer cat sitting and pop-in visits (for other small animals too) around the Wimborne vicinity. This saves the stress of uprooting cats from their home territory and I will feed them, attend to all their needs and lavish them with attention whilst you are away.
Unlike many pet sitters, I don't have logos or any information on my vehicle because these would draw attention to your absence. Whether you just want to go away for the day, or on holiday, please feel free to contact me to discuss your pet’s needs. I would be delighted to help and have numerous testimonials for your peace of mind. I am fully insured, police checked, qualified in dog first aid, and a member of both the IMDTB (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers and Behaviourists), and the National Association of Registered Pet Sitters (Narps UK). I am an Approved Dog Trainer and Canine Reactivity Specialist with the Dog Training College. I also carry out home checks on behalf of animal rescue charities. |
Dog Behaviour Consultations
I have many years' experience handling dogs and am qualified with the IMDTB, as well as being a Canine Reactivity Specialist and Approved Dog Trainer with the Dog Training College. I attend regular courses and seminars to ensure my knowledge and methods are up to date and are therefore consistently the most effective ways to help with issues that you may have with your dog's behaviour. I use a force-free, positive and holistic approach to find the root cause of the problem. This therefore enables changes to be made to unwanted behaviour through understanding the psychology of the dog, and dog and owner co-operation. This method of behaviour modification will improve the trust and mutual respect of both owner and dog and lead to a more peaceful life for both. I have a BSc (Hons) First Class Degree in Psychology which enables me to use knowledge of both human and dog psychology to really strengthen the level of understanding between both owner and dog. I believe that behaviour modification should always look at your dog’s underlying emotion and work on this in order to resolve behaviour issues and to prevent further issues from occurring. Some behaviours can be changed relatively quickly whilst other issues can take longer. Both one off consultations, or longer term support programmes are available so we can work together to resolve any problems. Please feel free to contact me by message, phone or email for an initial discussion so we can start to find the right solution for you and your dog. |
